What's your approach to counselling?

I believe in supporting people to decide what and how they can look to make positive choices and decisions which determine their life and wellbeing.

I use an integrative method combining the different theoretical perspectives from my training initially within a person-centered approach, then relational, psychodynamic, and systemic theory, alongside a medical model.

I use this to explore how your relationships with the past and others, impacts your relationships now.

Where do you practice?

I offer telephone and online appointments as well as face to face appointments from the West End of Edinburgh.

Who do you help?

I help individuals, couples, children and adolescents, and parents.

How many sessions will I need?

I offer both short- and longer-term sessions to suit your needs. We regularly review how our work is going together (usually every 3 to 6 weeks) as this helps us determine your ongoing requirements.

Undertaking counselling, like any change, takes time, energy, and resources and I aim to work at a pace that is manageable for you.

Do I have to sign anything?

Yes, we have a working agreement that sets out how we'll work together, what we can expect from each other, and the boundaries that we'll work within.

Is it confidential?

Yes, I offer complete confidentiality. The only exceptions to this are as per legal and ethical guidelines. I work within the BACP ethical framework, and we discuss this at our initial consultation.
