Hello. My name is Rosie McLeod.

I’m a counsellor who supports couples, individuals, children, young people, and parents.

I help people to find understanding and solutions to issues, worries, or difficulties they are facing, and to create meaning within their life. Through exploring different perspectives things can often feel less painful and more hopeful.

I’m also a Clinical Supervisor offering supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors

About me

I feel privileged to work as a counsellor and am passionate about supporting and empowering others to create positive change in their lives.

I have a breadth of experience through working in different roles within the NHS, Voluntary Sector, and Private Practice, and with people from a variety of backgrounds at home in Scotland and abroad.

I build strong relationships and connect with people through empathy and humour. I have often been described as kind, thoughtful, and down to earth which is an approach people have found helpful in our work together.

I value working with a variety of clients within a proactive, therapeutic relationship where reflecting on our perspective can lead to constructive change.

Sometimes having space to be heard and understood is all we need, so please get in touch with any questions about the counselling process, or what working with me might be like.

What I offer

We are all unique, and throughout life, we face many challenges which present in different ways such as anxiety, low mood, poor self-esteem, or relationship issues.

I believe there is no single approach that suits everyone and so I use different theoretical perspectives to explore how your relationship with the past or others impacts your relationships now. I offer support, curiosity, and kindness to create a quiet safe space to do this.

I strive to connect my breadth of personal and professional learning to make sense of and understand my own lived experiences, as well as those I develop relationships with.

I offer the following services, so please either click on the links below or scroll down to find out more…

Services

Individual Counselling

Throughout our lives, and within each life stage, we face positive and negative challenges as well as inevitable change. Sometimes this can be felt as a positive experience, but can often also leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, lost, confused, or depressed. Having a secure space to consider where we are at, and how we got here, can create the catalyst to begin to understand and adapt.

Couples and Relationship Counselling

We all can find our relationships feeling stuck or difficult throughout the many challenging events that each life stage can throw at us. Sometimes communicating with your partner seems difficult or overwhelming and connected relationships feel impossible. Perhaps trust in the relationship has been damaged through secrets or infidelity, suffering due to loss and bereavement, or the challenges of parenting or work feeling too much.

Children and Adolescent Counselling

Whilst growing up is a time of play, fun and exploration, children can sometimes find it difficult to navigate the many challenges that they are faced with, and it is not unusual that these difficulties around feelings or experiences are expressed through behaviours. This is often when children and adolescents need a bit of support to explore and understand what might be making them feel sad, worried, anxious or their other feelings, and how to make sense of them in a way that feels manageable.

Parental Support

I realised early on in my “parenting career” that despite my best efforts my kids were not robots, and as such their differing world view to mine felt like parenting could be both the best, and worst job at the same time.Working alongside you, we will look at what you and your family are finding difficult and consider strategies that could work for you, at this time. When we can change our perspective or approach to things that we are struggling with as parents, positive change can occur. This is however not always easy when we are in the thick of it.
